HOW KRISTIN SHARES YOGA
Kristin loves yoga and is inspired by the therapeutic and self-revelatory benefits of yoga. She has practiced yoga as long as she’s practiced law – over twenty-five years. She co-founded Community Yoga Initiative (CYI), a grassroots, volunteer-driven wellness movement dedicated to improving the physical, mental, and emotional health of human beings through the practice of yoga. She facilitates free yoga classes for CYI daily.
She also co-founded Community Yoga Center (CYC), a non-profit yoga school in Riverside, California. CYC provides affordable yoga teacher trainings (YTTs) as well as free yoga education and practice opportunities. These offerings break down financial, cultural, and systemic barriers, and reflect the true spirit of yoga - generosity, equity, and service - shifting the focus from profit to purpose, and nurturing practitioners and teachers who are deeply motivated by service and community connection. Kristin facilitates CYC’s 200-hour and 300-hour YTTs and The Art of Meditation course.
Through the Prison Yoga Project, Kristin also facilitates an immersive yoga and mindfulness course at a state prison in Norco, California - guiding incarcerated men through yoga and mindfulness practices that ease states of trauma, develop resilience, and promote well-being. Facilitating yoga in prison reminds her how yoga is about more than physical movement of the body; it’s about experiencing moments of freedom – even behind walls.
She co-founded Ananda Yoga Festival in Riverside, California. It’s become a destination for folks to experience yoga in a way that’s accessible, heart-centered, and healing. A portion of the festival is open to the public and entirely free to attend – a space to gather, connect, and explore wellness resources.
Kristin is the yoga instructor for the United States Men’s Olympic Water Polo Team.
